ANTARCTIC ADVENTURE
Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula: the life cycle and the sound of silence
12 days - 11 nights
The Antarctic Adventure is a journey to the Antarctic Peninsula where we will be moved by the natural beauty of the Antarctic: the life cycle and the sound of silence. In southern summer and spring, the sun shines almost all the time, melting the snow and ice, showing plenty of wildlife. Due to the natural local cycle, every expedition will be different from one another so we will have surprises on every trip.

The Antarctic absolute silence is such that the interruptions of Mother Nature become real memories. From penguins struggling for food to pieces of ice breaking off the face of a glacier in Neko Port or Paradise Bay. The deep and mysterious silence of this land is interrupted by the sound of our arms up and down and our legs helping us go forward on our cross-country skies.
12 days.
Multiple Departures.
Departure and destination: Ushuaia, Argentina.
Embarkation and disembarkation: Ushuaia.
Adventure Ship Expedition

Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego Island
Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, will welcome us with its picturesque picture, its stunning view to the Beagle Channel and its excellent gastronomy options. We will spend the night in this city.
Starting our Trip to the Antarctic
Before embarking, we will have the opportunity to visit on our own the city of Ushuaia: among the excursions available, we recommend visiting the Tierra del Fuego National Park to reach Lapataia Bay. We will start our expedition trip on the icebreaker that will cross the waters of the Beagle Channel heading for the turbulent Drake Passage.

Crossing the Drake Passage
When crossing the Drake Passage, we will have the opportunity to learn about the biology, the habitat and the behavior of the Emperor Penguin. Our photographer will help us enjoy to the full the landscape taking into account the special light conditions that we will find during our visit to the penguin rookeries.

The Drake Passage, also called the Hoces Sea, divides South America from the White Continent; it is located between Cape Horn (Chile) and the South Shetland Islands (the Antarctic), connecting the Pacific Ocean in the west to the Scotia Sea in the east.

Antarctic Peninsula Adventure
We intend to explore the area in two explorations a day on Zodiacs ships. We will make way among huge icebergs and climb up to the top of a steep hill to contemplate a beautiful snowy landscape.

In southern summer and spring, the sun shines almost all the time, melting the snow and ice, showing plenty of wildlife. We will watch chicks breaking free from their eggshells, and growing feathers; and pods of whales jumping in deep bays, and meanwhile, watch pieces of ice breaking off glaciers stirring the Antarctic shrimp, the local delicacy. Due to the natural life cycle, every expedition will be different from one another so we will have surprises on every trip.

The Antarctic absolute silence is such that the interruptions of Mother Nature become real memories. We will enjoy the sound of noisy penguins struggling for valuable pebbles, or the fall of a glacier breaking off into the water in Neko Port of Paradise Bay.

Then there is the sound we produce as we move our arms up and down, and our legs helping us to go forward on our cross-country skies. During our journey to Bay Island to spend four days in the Peninsula, the Expedition Team will offer opportunities to test our guests’ resistance and arouse their curiosity.

Returning through the Drake Passage towards Ushuaia
We will get back through the Drake Passage towards Ushuaia, after having sailed along the route followed by important Antarctic adventurers. As well as Cook, Ross, Scott and Shackleton, we will be amazed by these landscapes, watching the scenery on our skies. And here, like them, we will understand the endless charm of the Antarctic.
